Planning a Trip to Jaipur? Here are a few travel tips to keep in mind!

Tips for Jaipur Trip

If you are staying in Delhi NCR, or other nearby areas, chances are you have heard a lot about Jaipur and longed to visit it.

Jaipur is the Capital of Rajasthan, one of the most vibrant states in India, having a long and colorful history. It is also know as the Pink City.
And the best part about it is that it is just under 300 KM from Delhi, depending on where you start from.

That makes it one of the best travel destinations for people living in and around Delhi.

I myself have longed for the same and one long weekend planned a trip!

However, there are a few things I so wish someone had told me before hand. I believe everyone should know about these tips when planning a trip to Jaipur.

So, from my own personal experience, I share with you my PRO Travel Tips for a Jaipur Trip!

Reaching Jaipur

If you are already planning a trip to Jaipur, you might have seen there are multiple ways to reach the Pink City.

It has an airport so if you are coming from far away, it's better to take a flight.

For the people staying in Delhi and neighboring areas, there are plenty of options.

There is a good road connectivity. So both options - bus as well as own car is an option.

There is also Rail Connectivity. So that can be considered as well.

My Tip - If your trip is on a long weekend, Book a train ticket!
There are many trains that run on this route. I would suggest you take Shatabdi Express which leaves in the morning. If you plan to leave in the evening a day before, A double-decker train also runs on the same route.

And of course, there is a Rajdhani Express as well.

Yes, self-driving a car may theoretically take approximately same time, even less. But on a long weekend, there will be multiple families like you traveling to the historical city.

I have faced this problem myself. Huge rush led to frequent congestions at tolls and other narrow roads.

Even good roadside restaurants were completely filled and washrooms had a queue outside.

If you have to travel in your own car, take a leave and go one day before the long weekend starts. You will find the roads much less crowded and you will reach the destination on time.

Visiting Places in Jaipur

Jaipur has a lot of places to visit.

Major attractions include - The Hawa Mahal, Amber Palace, Jaipur Market, Albert Hall Museum, Floating palace etc.

But if you have reached Jaipur on a long weekend, chances are all of these places will be crowded. You may have to spend almost half an hour to 1 hour standing in the queue for the entry ticket.

And when you move to the next location, the same process repeats. This can be very tiring.

What I found out, when I visited the Alber Hall Museum, was that you could buy a combined ticket from there for all the major points of attraction on Jaipur.

So if you are anticipating a rush, just visit Albert Hall first, buy a combined ticket and then visit all the places without any tension or inconvenience.

The floating palace and the Amber palace are a little distance from the main city. I would suggest you keep a day for both. First, visit the floating palace in the morning, then reach amber palace by afternoon.

Have lunch at a nearby local restaurant and then proceed to visit the amber palace.

Stay till the evening for amazing lighting performance at the fort.

If you are traveling by your own car, you can visit these places on the last day while returning to Delhi as they are on the way back.

Final Thoughts

These are my personal experiences and I thought to share them with you all.

Had someone told me about this beforehand, my own trip would have gone even better.

But at least you can learn, from my experiences, and have an amazing time in the city of Jaipur.

Jaipur, travel tips

  1. This place was very comfortable. Restrooms were decent. Coming here with my friends was an amazing experience. This is among my favorite LA event venues now, because of its excellent food, perfect lighting, vibrant atmosphere and great ventilation.
